In the past 24 hours, the Hillary Campaign has sent out three email blasts begging for a $1 contribution before the Tuesday night deadline for filing with the FEC.
Yes, you did not misread it. They want $1.00.
Interestingly, Hillary has reached way back into the past for the solicitors. The letters were signed by Mandy Grunwald, James Carville, and Barbara Boxer.
Most people won’t recognize Mandy Grunwald. She’s been a media consultant to the Clintons since Billl’s 1992 campaign. She’s not exactly a beloved Democratic figure who can stir up the base, but she describes the Hillary she knows: the Hillary that loves HG-TV and chili powder.
Wow. Hillary is just an everyday American – just like the rest of us.
Then there’s the 71 year old James Carville, who signed the second letter. The Clintons have never hired him for another campaign after they fired him in 1994. But he does have name recognition, so maybe he can raise the passion level to get lots of $1 contributions. His letter was preceded by a little blurb reminder that I had not yet made my $1 contribution. Typical Hillary “we can see what you’re doing.”
One good thing: in a letter, one can at least understand what Carville is trying to say.
The third letter came from the 73 year old California Senator Barbara Boxer. She’s like family. Her daughter was married to Hillary’s brother Tony. (remember him from the Haiti scandal and the Chinese Visa scandal) He stiffed Boxer’s daughter for over $100,000 in child support and they ended up in court.
But Barbara holds no grudge against Hillary and is right out there hawking for a $1 contribution.
So, who will be next to send out the next blast from the past letter?
