Hillary’s once again pretending she’s just one of the regular folks, struggling to keep ahead. The woman who flies in private jets whenever the destination is more than an hour away by car is now taking a “road trip” of 1000 miles to get to Iowa and start her presidential campaign. That same woman hasn’t driven a car in twenty years, has not seen the inside of a grocery store, and pays $200,000 for a month long vacation rental in the Hamptons, where she socializes with Hollywood types.
She’s just an everyday American.
Yesterday she tweeted that she was “packing up the van” and heading to Iowa. Can’t you just see it? Hillary piling a cooler full of her favorite Diet Dr. Pepper and her suitcases into the back of the Secret Service van. Maybe a pillow and blanket. You see, she’s just like everyone else – an everyday America, as she now calls the middle class, going on a road trip. Simple, ordinary, normal.
An they’ll be stopping along the way on the 16 hour trip. There’s lost of gas stations and diners where she can mingle with the hoi polo and take ‘spontaneous’ photos!
But what’s wrong with this picture?
What’s wrong is this: Hillary Clinton’s forced, stilted campaign announcement is about as authentic as she is. It’s carefully designed to let her pretend she’s one of us. Just another grandmother packing up her van. Just another middle class mother.
Gag.
She now says that the system is rigged in favor of the rich. Has she looked in the mirror? While she’s charging over $200,000 per speech and reportedly received a $14 million advance for her flop of a book last year, her daughter is on the cover of Elle magazine this month, wearing a $1500 Gucci dress and a $7000 Cartier bracelet. And her husband id on the cover of Town and Country, that favorite outlet of lower and middle class families. The Clintons two homes are worth almost $10 million and her daughter’s apartment is worth almost as much. Yeah, they’re just like everyday Americans. Just like you and me.
Bill’s not in the picture this time. He turned out to be a problem last time she ran. And his record on endorsing candidates isn’t so hot lately. Every single Democratic candidate he campaigned for in Arkansas lost in 2012. So its a good idea to keep him out of sight for a while.
She’s lost the Rodham name, too. Now she’s just Hillary Clinton. Even if Bill brings a lot of negatives, his name brings a lot of positives. When Bill first ran for Governor, she was Hillary Rodham. After he lost, in part, because of a dislike of her, she became Hillary Clinton. Once he was sworn in as President, she announced that she was now Hillary Rodham Clinton. But now she’s apparently back to Hillary Clinton. The name thing is a metaphor for her inauthenticity. She’s never quite clear who she is. Not until her latest guru tells her.
Her cutesy road trip idea has lots of benefits. The annoying issues that the press insist on bothering her about are out of sight – as is the press itself. They don’t know where she’ll be. It’s all very hush-hush and secret. That’s how she likes it.
Hillary, the “Every Woman”, plans to raise $2.5 BILLION for her campaign. That’s obscene by any standards. Obscene and unnecessary. And not very everyday American.
Hillary’s hiding. She had to announce because she’s had tons of people working for nothing for weeks, working out of Starbucks and their homes. This from the great advocate of working people. And why weren’t they paid? Because she didn’t want to spend her own money. But she also had to delay her announcement repeatedly as one scandal after another stepped on her message. So she had to jump in.
But she doesn’t want the scrutiny that is inescapable for a Presidential candidate. Because even a cursory look will reveal her hypocrisy and expose her for the phone she is.
